A scoreboard ribbon cutting ceremony with Senator Betty Little will be held Thursday, February, 26 at 7:00 p.m. in a pre-game ceremony. Immediately following the unveiling, the Adirondack IceHawks will face-off against the Richmond Riverdogs in the scoreboard’s inaugural event.
In addition to the Senator, participating in the ceremony will be Kay Saunders, City of Glens Falls Councilwoman-at-Large, Paul E. Pontiff, President of the Glens Falls Civic Center Foundation, and Bernie McGuire and Sue Hitchcock, both members of the Adirondack Booster Club Board.
The new scoreboard’s total cost of $230,000 was funded by a corporate sponsor, grants, and a donation. Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company contributed $95,000 as a corporate sponsor. This funding was secured by the newly formed Glens Falls Civic Center Foundation. Senator Betty Little was instrumental in identifying funding from the Empire State Development Corporation via the Community Capital Assistance Program in the amount of $75,000. An additional $50,000 from the State was identified by retired Senator Ronald Stafford. A donation from the Adirondack Booster Club in the amount of $10,000 completed the funding.
The new scoreboard is manufactured by Barco, and features state-of-the-art technology. The package includes a 16” x 112” amber message center on all four sides (active area is 1’ 2 3/8” high x 8’ 5” long). This message center is interactive with the action that’s happening in the arena and can be further customized with team member names and more. All four corners of the main board are back lit, and all four sides of the top of the scoreboard includes a full-color 22mm LED message center with a 16” x 128” grid (the active area is 1’2” high x 9’6” wide). This message center has the capability of importing graphics, including company logos, making advertising more attractive for sponsors. Also included in the package are two basketball shot clocks, five locker room clocks, two basketball goal lights, two hockey goal lights, and four new mini-scoreboards in all four corners of the arena.
