Senator Betty Little (R,C,I-Queensbury) was joined today by Glens Falls Mayor
Robert A. Regan and Fred Field, Vice President of the Glens Falls Civic Center Foundation, to announce a $500,000 grant she has secured to replace the seats at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
This new funding is in addition to $225,000 secured last year by Senator Little for Glens Falls Civic Center capital improvements and builds on the successful fundraising efforts of the Civic Center Foundation.
"The Civic Center is a very important economic and cultural asset for Glens Falls and the surrounding region," said Senator Little. "This funding will complement the City and the Civic Center Foundation's continuing efforts to upgrade and improve this venue which has served us so well over the last twenty-five years.”
"The Civic Center welcomes over 200,000 visitors each year. We want to ensure that the facility is modernized so that every guest has a positive impression of the Civic Center and a memorable experience when they're here," said Little.
“Senator Betty Little has given a terrific boost to the Glens Falls Civic Center. It is a capital improvement that has been at the top of our list for a long time and will help keep the Glens Falls Civic Center competitive,” Mayor Regan stated.
Paul Pontiff stated, "This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to work with government to accomplish the goals set forth by the Glens Falls Civic Center Foundation for the Glens Falls Civic Center. We much appreciate Senator Little's leadership in providing this funding specifically for new seating in the Civic Center."
The Glens Falls Civic Center is an arena hosting sports and entertainment activities year-round. Home to the United Hockey League's Adirondack Frostbite and the Adirondack Wildcats of the United States Basketball League, it hosts a variety of sports, theater, and family entertainment events.
