The Zen Tricksters to Play SuperJam ’06;
Tickets on Sale Now

QUEENSBURY – Long Island-based rock/jam band The Zen Tricksters will headline WGFR’s SuperJam ’06 at Heritage Hall at the Glens Falls Civic Center on Saturday, April 29th.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Tickets for the 16 and over show are on sale at the Civic Center box office, all Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.com. Advance tickets are $12 for the general public and $10 with a valid Adirondack Community College ID card. The day of the show, tickets will be available at the box office for $14.

The Zen Tricksters are into their third decade as a touring band. According to the band’s website, The Tricksters are known for their “huge working repertoire that ranges from their tuneful and well-crafted original pieces to traditional bluegrass and hillbilly jazz classics, to Grateful Dead, Dylan, Neil Young, and inventive interpretations of any and all songs that catch their fancy.”

Local favorites the Jonathan Newell Band will open the show. JNB performs a variety of originals and standard rock covers with exceptional energy and talent. Lead singer Jonathan Newell is an accomplished composer and pianist. Newell is an adjunct instructor of music at Adirondack Community College.

Blues guitarist/vocalist Murali Coryell and his band are slated as the middle act. Coryell, a Kingston, New York-area native is the son of legendary jazz guitarist Larry Coryell. The younger Coryell has performed on the main stage at B.B. King Blues Club in Manhattan and with Buddy Guy at Guy’s club in Chicago.

WGFR’s SuperJam is an annual fundraising concert produced and promoted by 92.7 WGFR, Adirondack Community College’s noncommercial FM radio station, and the Adirondack Broadcast Association, an ACC student club that operates WGFR.

Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Brandon Newell Fund. Brandon is the son of Jonathan Newell. Brandon is currently undergoing treatment for cancer.
